Blog EntrySearching for PrincessMar 26, '08 6:08 AM

Didn't see the little Princess yesterday morning and I started to get worried when she still didn't turn up at night for feeding. I went looking for her at the surrounding blocks and even across the main road, in case children carried her there as had happened with Silver.

After my feeding round at about 1 am I decided to search all the corridors of *23 area One. At last I found her on the top floor sleeping on a chair outside one unit.

I am sure she did not go up there by herself...

Little Princess recovered well

Princess was missing for one day, then the next day Maxiejane saw her limping and suspects fall from height. I took her in to observe and to let her rest and recover. I too, suspected that she fell from 2nd floor because of the scraped skin near the mouth and what looked like a little dried-up blood at one nostril. One front leg seems to hurt but  there is no swelling. She often goes up up to the 2nd floor...someone must be feeding her upstairs. She is better now, can walk and run and even jump on the chair. Will probably release her tonight.

I was very busy with several pet-sitting jobs for the past 2 weeks, looking after cats, dogs, rabbits and chinchillas in their homes while the guardians are away...but I really enjoy seeing pets that are much loved and well taken care of.

Several new cats have been dumped in all 3 areas...sometimes really loose my temper. Saw a little black-and-white kitten with a collar at Area 1 the other day. When I took off the collar, which was too tight, a man who was standing nearby came forward saying that the kitten was his. He said he found it and took it in for a few days but his mother-in-law objected so he conveniently put the kitten downstairs where I was feeding. This same man had approached me about a week earlier saying that he liked Benny and is considering taking him home. I really got angry about him abandoning this little kitten, scolded him and told him what happened to Tummy, Donna and Genie. In the end he agreed to take the kitten back for the time being and to try getting it adopted through CWS bulletin board.

These people endanger the whole colony of sterilised community cats by their irresponsible actions! The aim of TNRM is to reduce the number of cats but this cannot be achieved if people continue to dump.

Midnight had a close call...he was running in front of a taxi, disappeared under the moving car and then run out between the wheels. I screamed when I saw it...the car just drove off. Midnight came back for the feeding a little shaken but luckily he seemed unhurt.

Little Princess was revolutionized...twice! I used the one for kittens up to 2.5kg and she continued scratching after that. 2x Revolution for Kittens is still less than one dose for adult cats.

Benny seems to be alright and has settled at block *30 in area 1. His wounds have healed...and no new ones. The other day Dirty Harry was growling at him...

I have finally come up with suitable names for the 3 motherless kittens (all boys). The one with the straight tail is Timmy, the one with the circular tail is Tommy and the one with a semi-circle tail is Tummy. He is also the one who likes tummy-rubs the most :).

Betty was released yesterday night...because she was hardly eating anything. Managed to apply some powder today.

Little Princess and Fudge were both sterilised yesterday. Fudge is the new chocolate-white boy at *22 area 1.

Gave my last SPCA voucher to Penny and lend her the trap. Hope that she will manage to get the pregnant cat today. I like her feeding area. There is an open field…ideal to build a cat café!

Was supposed to trap the *38 area 3 female today but then it started raining and so I decided to take the new kitten "Little Princess" instead. I have 2 sterilisation slots for tomorrow and planned to give one of them to the blk *21 area 1 family for their third cat. However, later at night I noticed that Princess has still diarrhoea. I then passed another carrier to the family so they will be able to bring their last two2 cats  in one go tomorrow.

Gave Princess another dose of charcoal and will observe for a few days.

She refused food but drank some water.

This little kitten will not be bullied by Rocky. I saw myself how he meekly retreated when she hissed at him
