He doesn't look so bad...not dehydrated. One of the feeders in the area is syringe -feeding him. Bell-Boy is trying to make friends. Hope he will stay around to be tipped once he starts eating on his own. Penny has 7 pregnant cats to be sterilised...from outside her feeding area. Two were done yesterday with the help of a sponsor and 2 more went today under SPCA voucher. She has enough vouchers left for the rest. Another caregiver 'R' has a very difficult time. Almost all of her 40 cats/kittens came down with flu. Most of them have now either recovered or are recovering except for one with some breathing difficulties. Penny and myself passed her what we had on medication. Penny also sponsored a visit to the vet for the most sick cat... still, we had to keep nagging her to go.
Spotted a new female tabby in area 1 and Sylvia found a terrified ginger-white cat at area 3. Just like Fern...refusing food and water. Will go down later and try to syringe-feed. Also found another mother cat with 2 kittens at a coffee shop next to the construction site where the other cat family with the white-and-black kittens lives. The 2 kittens are also about 3 month old, one ginger-white and one tabby. Will be feeding them every day and hope that Penny can foster them if some of her kittens get adopted. The new skinny boy at area one, named him Twirly, vomits sometimes. He is now at the same block every day, so I will start him on antibiotics tonight. Yesterday he ate quite a bit... but if there is more vomiting or refusal to eat then he also will have to go to the vet. There is another sick cat at area 2... a black-and-white coffee-shop cat. She has become very thin and has poor appetite. I went down last night because the Auntie told me that she won't eat.The cat didn't touch the dry food which she usually likes but she ate half a can of kitten food. Gave some cans to the Auntie... While feeding Twirly, I saw a middle-aged Chinese lady letting her dog run on the void deck and following him with a sheet of paper. She picked up the poo but left a big puddle of pee in the middle of the void deck...I cleaned up some of it with newspaper. At the next block there is dog poo in the middle of the walkway. Will the cats get blamed for this?

Fern had vomited out what I syringed this morning... maybe I gave her too much. She is still dehydrated. I will have to bring her to the vet if there is no improvement soon. Had also started her on antibiotics.
The calico went again up to the 7th floor. This time she went into the flat and hid under the bed... she came out when I called her. Brought her back downstairs to the same corner and she ate some dry food... refused to eat the Fussy Cat tuna. She looks thin... Also saw the other two abandonees again and fed them. One is a Russian Blue type probably a male as he has some scars, his eyes are watery... maybe flu. The other one is a young cat or older kitten, very pretty, large circular patterns and white paws... but malnourished. There is also a new Persian-x around... must be a home cat as he is never hungry... will be difficult to trap him for sterilisation. Saw a tame female on my way to area 2. when I felt her tummy to see if she is pregnant or nursing kittens, I felt a broken rib... must be an old injury as there was no pain. I have no more vouchers for this month as Penny needed my last two for two pregnant cats from an area with no caregiver, one of them suspected to be a home cat.
I had arranged with the son of the Chinese family staying on the second floor to wire mesh the window facing the corridor, the mother had approved. When I came with the mesh today the father refused and threatened to throw the kitten if it causes so much trouble. In the end he allowed me to fix the mesh to the kitchen window instead. Saw two more new abandonees ...they came out to finish the left-overs after the community cats had their fill. I left some food behind for them...both are very shy. Now listening to the Heart Sutra my mind is at peace and I breathe easily...
Dumped at *23 Area 1. She is too scared to move and did not touch the wet food and ate only a few pieces of kibble. She has been very recently sterilised, tipped and tattooed. Her saggy tummy and the length of the stitches suggest that she was pregnant. She also has a skin problem…. I called Penny… Yes, the pregnant cat that she brought for sterilization for the Malay family was white and with some patches and had a long tail. See here We will pay a visit later.
Yesterday, night while returning home to get a carrier for Beauty, I met a Chinese lady staying at blk *22 Area 1. She was searching for an injured kitten (limping and eye injury), which her son saw earlier at blk *21. We couldn't’t find it. Then today I received sms from R that she saw a sick kitten at blk *22. R mentioned that the kitten also has flu symptoms. I quickly called the Chinese lady and also went there with a carrier. She was very relieved to have finally found the kitten and will bring it to the vet. She is also thinking of keeping it.
May you rest in peace, Minnie http://groups.msn.com/SingaporeCats/inmemoryof.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=14992 Last October during my feeding rounds, a Chinese woman with her 2 teenage kids waited for me with a carrier at one of my feeding spots. Minnie was in her carrier. She told me they could no longer care for the cat & wanted to release Minnie there cos there are feeders. I stopped her from doing it & I asked if the cat was spayed with a tipped ear. She replied yes. A week later, a frightened Minnie appeared at the very spot and I soon found out that her owner told a lie cos she wasn't spayed nor with tipped ear. I sent her for sterilisation and this picture of her was taken at the vet clinic. Early February, Town Council sent me an email to inform that a resident had complaint that Minnie had been resting on top of his car and the Town Council officer instructed for the removal of Minnie from the vicinity, or the pest control will be sent in. We were given a time frame to have Minnie removed. There was NO room for any mediation. We tried to relocate Minnie to few blocks away but somehow, she managed to find her way back within half an hour. Desperate, a feeder suggested to put Minnie at a farm for the time being. Unfortunately, Minnie could have caught virus at the farm and she was ill. Two weeks later, the same feeder decided to release Minnie back onto the street. Throughout, I was being kept in the dark that Minnie had been very ill and wasn't eating. It was only last Saturday afternoon that the feeder called me up to inform that they found Minnie's dead body near their carpark. I told the feeder I could have sent Minnie to the vet for treatment if only she were to tell me earlier that Minnie was sick. She replied it was a deadly virus & there is no point to send to the vet, so she decided to release Minnie so that the cat can eat grass and get cured by itself. As someone has rightly mentioned, - Anger - will not bring Minnie back ... Minnie had been an active and healthy cat ... THANKS, to her heart-LESS owner, the UNreasonable complainant + the Town Council officer and last but not the LEAST, - the Feeder... Minnie's young life was abruptly ended, for all the wrong reasons. I want to believe she is in a better place now, away from this harsh earth ...
This little frisky fellow just wouldn't keep still for a second... all the other shots were a total blur. Alice is really very cute! Purring away like a motor! The Auntie found her at blk *11 while feeding Sophus yesterday night. She said the kitten kept following her and then she carried her accross the road to Billy Boy's place. Sylvia carried her to *30 where Mohan was trying (unsucessfully) to trap the Romeo. Romeo had recovered from his previous injury but has now a big wound at the side of his face. He is still eating well so Mohan advised Juliana to get some medication to mix into his food. Mohan then dropped the kitten off at my place on his way home. Beauty had just been released today, so I put her in the bathroom rather than on the balcony with Jade. Ivy's will be taking her soon, because Penny has no more space left as she just took in a mother cat with 4 tiny kittens. She had a tippoff that pest control was trapping at *38 (which is an area where there is no caregiver) then she found out that actually this cat and her kittens outside a flat on the upper floor of *37 were the target.
I am Marmalade Boy Anyone to take me home?
Ivy came to know about 2 kittens at the staircase between 7th and 8th floor of blk *11 Area 1 and went to look for them. By the time she reached there, they were gone. Later she managed to find one of them at the 10 floor... very frightened and hungry. I also searched for the other one later and put up posters...hoping for a witness to come forward. Msg from Ivy: I popped him into my handbag. He's under foster care for hopefully a month, or till he's due for his sterilisation with my friend.Bald patches here & there.Very tame, okay with claw trimming and uses the kitty litter perfectly!
Saw them first 6 days ago at Blk *04 Area 2. Tame and trusting, clean looking...discarded during spring cleaning? The mother is a young, friendly white-and-tabby. The 2 kittens are beautiful with long straight tails and mostly white, one with ginger patches and the other one with some grey patches. They look less than 2 months old. They hide in the drain and the nearby construction site. Hope they will be save!
First there was Midnight, then a shy bushy tail appeared the power station. Didn't see him around for a while until yesterday when he came to me and even let me carry him. His fur is very soft, he must have been an indoor cat.His tail reminds me of a feather duster so I call him Duster. He seems to get along with Dusty. Another one is a still nameless female kitten about 5 months old. There was another new black female but she came only twice for feeding and then disappeared. Will get Duster and the kitten sterilised this month and also Frosty (a Siamese-x) and Speedy (an older tabby-white kitten). There are two more unsterilised males, Stony and Smoky...
M found an abandoned mother cat with 4 young kittens some time ago. She and other people kept feeding them. Yesterday M told me that 3 kittens had died and the mother is also presumed dead. She then took the lone remaining kitten intending to bring it home but it escaped halfway and went into the drain. We tried to trap it but the kitten was too scared and ran to the deeper end of the drain. We had to give up and just left some food behind. No sign of the kitten today…
She refused food but drank some water. This little kitten will not be bullied by Rocky. I saw myself how he meekly retreated when she hissed at him
Lucky has been missing for almost a week now… Now there are only 2 cats left at blk *78 area 3. First the Orange-white tipped ear went missing, then Fury and now Lucky. Sylvia has lost another 3 sterilised cats at around *72. We suspect that someone removed the cats. With all my cats gone…I have decided to give up on the area under this RC. Sylvia will still continue to feed Anna’s cats ET and TT on alternate days. Plenty of new cats been dumped in other areas! A tabby-white 5 to 6 months old female kitten appeared a few days ago. Noticed yesterday that she has diarrhoea and gave her ¼ charcoal tablet. A 6 to 7 months old chocolate-white boy was abandoned about a week ago at the same area…. 2 new adult cats at another area, one of them was already tipped. The chocolate boy is very cute, will try to get him adopted after sterilisation. So much sorrow…and add to that an adopter who turned very nasty when I insist that the now 6-month-old kitten needs to be sterilised. I even offered to pick him up and do everything for her after I realized her reluctance and was given many excuses…even telling me the vet advised her to have him sterilised at the age of 8 to 10 months. Now, she says that she will do him next month and again told me that he is now her cat and to mind my own business. Yes, she did sign the adoption contract agreeing to have the kitten sterilised at the age of 6 months.
I heard the faint meowing of a kitten while feeding the cats 2 days ago, but couldn’t locate it. I went back one more time after releasing Anzan.. This time I saw the ginger/white kitten under a car. It looks only about a month old… or less. I gave food and water…it only started eating when I moved further away. The next day I couldn’t find the kitten, so I asked Sylvia for help. She agreed after I offered her transport on the back of my bicycle :). True enough, Sylvia’s sharp ears managed to hear a meow and locate the kitten. It seemed stuck in a drainage pipe. We tried to coax it out with food. Then the cat-friendly karang guni man offered help…trying to gently push the kitten with a long metal rod (with a piece of cloth at the end). Out it came…and hid under the parked cars. All we could do was leaving some food and water behind…hoping against the odds that it will survive. Wish I could do more…
4 young cats were dumped at a power station a few weeks back…3 boys and one girl. The girl looks about 5 months old but she is rolling about a lot… so I will get her sterilised this week. She looks very cute…will call her Spicy. Yesterday, 2 kittens were dumped at a bin center. They are only about 4 months old…beautiful gingers. They were still there today and left water and dry food behind. Looks like Shredder and Muddy don’t mind having them in their territory… Another ginger girl was also dumped there some time ago. She is about 6 months old and I managed to catch her today for tomorrow’s sterilization slot. Have not found a name for her yet…
The two Malay girls knocked at my door again. This time they asked me to take in their own two cats, as their father would throw them out by tomorrow because of the new baby in the house. I went over to talk to their elder sister (the mother of the baby). She loves the cats, too, and is willing to take them with her when she moves to her new home in about 3 months time. She told me of her other sister who keeps 8 cats and now faces problems because of a neighbour’s complaint. I suggested to board the cats at a private cattery for those few months…but seems they also have financial problems. The two cats, one year old males, look healthy and well taken care of but have not been sterilized.
We have seen it coming…many of her cats have disappeared and she doesn’t seem to care. When they are sick, she just says ‘It’s their life…let it be’
Now this feeder told us that she is not feeding anymore. Yesterday, Sylvia saw the hungry cats gathering under the feeder’s block…no food…no water.
I checked her other areas and gave the cats some food but I did not see Boy Boy. Then Sylvia came and told me that she had already fed Boy Boy and also left water for the cats to drink. We are both very disappointed that she can abandon her cats just like that...
