Hope the Bishan cat-caregivers can take some positive action before the dogs are killed by AVA.

A few nights of shooting Supersoakers and clanging pots and pans will probably stop the killing of the cats and the dogs.

After Momo was killed I went down several nights to look for the pack of stray dogs... but I never saw them. They must have moved on.

Look for non-kill solutions. Is the live of "our" cats more precious because we have spend time and money on them? Furthermore calling for "removal" of the dogs can backfire...

Will always remember poor Momo, hope that she's in a better realm now.

Unfortunately some people cannot see beyond their attachment to one species. SY told me that one evening many years ago, she was walking up the road from the cattery when she saw a lady feeding cats and there were a few stray dogs nearby, very very starved and hungry. SY didn't bring along any food and asked the feeder to spare some for the dogs. She reacted angrily and said she would never feed the dogs as "her cats' had been killed by "them" before.

Hope this lady has since progressed from a cat lover to an animal lover.

From Dawn's blog:
received a followup email from the caregiver who used umbrellas to drive off the dogs in their area. He said there was a pack of 5 dogs, and they had killed two cats and injured more. What they did was just to go down and wield the umbrellas and wave them at the dogs, while making noise to drive them away. When he and his fellow caregivers did this, the dogs ran across the road and haven't come back since.

I would imagine the watergun/super soaker will also be quite effective - after all Scarecrows also work on cats, and I would imagine a concentrated blast of water will prove quite useful.
