Blog EntryPest Control "made a mistake"Feb 23, '08 2:21 AM
for everyone

After several calls to the Pest Control Company, they finally called back to admit that their employee "made a mistake by catching the two cats at the bin center" and that they were actually supposed to catch cats in Woodlands that morning. Luckily there was a resident who had seen the trapping going on and later informed Penny. So the 2 cats are now at AVA (one ginger boy and a tortoiseshell female). The pest control company (and caregivers) will try to claim them back on Monday morning. No wonder I was told there are no cats from our area at AVA, because they were recorded as being caught at Woodlands.

Two more tipped-ear cats had gone missing from the bin center earlier... but no one saw what happened. They probably were the victims of another "mistake" and it will be too late to save them now because AVA will keep the tipped-ears for only about 3 days before they are killed.

I guess many such 'mistakes' happen on a regular basis and it seems we caregivers have to make a trip down to AVA whenever any cat goes missing.

Is there some controlling body of pest controllers to file a complaint against them for such "efficiency"! How do we subject the town council officers to a lie detector test! This is most unfair treatment of residents who do more for the community than just expend some saliva onto the phone to complain!

There is obviously a problem with the way pest control is allowed to bring in any cats! And how dishonest of them?

I'm sure this is not the first time this has happened. We also had cat who was witnessed being caught by pest control during SARS, but was not found at AVA. You have the proof. Why not write to AVA/TC (esp if you are working with them) and question them on why do they allow this to happen and what are they going to do to prevent such incidents from recurring?

Now the question is whether any TC officer is involved...
Andrew mentioned on the phone '...but we gave you until Feb.15".
I wonder if we should ask SPCA to look into this matter...most of my missing cats have probably been sent to AVA but recorded as from a different area.... they use the same Pest Control Company!

Penny is now on the way back and I hear lots of meowing in the background :) She says they look okay except one of them the eyes a little red... but no choice we have to put them back and observe.

Same pest control company some more? Obviously not entirely honest.
