Blog EntryMother and kittens gone...Jan 6, '08 9:30 AM
for everyone

M found an abandoned mother cat with 4 young kittens some time ago. She and other people kept feeding them.  Yesterday M told me that 3 kittens had died and the mother is also presumed dead. She then took the lone remaining kitten intending to bring it home but it escaped halfway and went into the drain. We tried to trap it but the kitten was too scared and ran to the deeper end of the drain. We had to give up and just left some food behind.

No sign of the kitten today…

Sadly, no sight of the kitten. There was nothing else we could have done, we also did consult Mohan.

I think it's my wrong judgement. If I have left it in the muddy hole maybe it would have a better chance of survival....sigh...

This is something that happened to, I think, many of us who have rescued cats. The pain will linger for some time and we have to deal with it and carry on. Memories will crop up now and then and again we have to deal with memories and let go. This is the sad fact of being an animal - an inability to know that it is being helped.
Will send metta to the kitten where it is now.

Unbelievable! The little kitten is back in the muddy hole after ten days. Everyday I've been looking around the lengthy drain until two days ago when I decided to give up. During my dog-walk this morning, I saw it sitting outside the muddy hole that it used to hide, looking thinner and hungry. Must have received our metta, it's miracle. I've been feeling so guilty since it went missing, thanks meowies and vegancats for the help n metta sent :D
